How do you defy destiny?
Helen Hamilton has spent her entire sixteen years trying to hide how different she is—no easy task on an island as small and sheltered as Nantucket. And it's getting harder. Nightmares of a desperate desert journey have Helen waking parched, only to find her sheets damaged by dirt and dust. At school she's haunted by hallucinations of three women weeping tears of blood . . . and when Helen first crosses paths with Lucas Delos, she has no way of knowing they're destined to play the leading roles in a tragedy the Fates insist on repeating throughout history.
As Helen unlocks the secrets of her ancestry, she realizes that some myths are more than just legend. But even demigod powers might not be enough to defy the forces that are both drawing her and Lucas together—and trying to tear them apart.Book Description

I have read 7 chapters in 2 days and have to say I already love this book. The humor and the story is fascinating and already the characters feels like normal everyday people but with features in them we all go around thinking we could have. It is normal to feel different and to be experiencing feelings you never even knew you had. I look forward to hearing more about Helen and her path....
ReplyDeleteI haven't started reading yet, but I will. Looks like u really like this book!
ReplyDeleteHAHA you know me Grace, you picked one in my taste. From now on I will have you pick books for me :) <3
ReplyDeleteThe book is amazing, can´t stop reading it and now I only have about 7 chapters left!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteLooks like ur going to finish it before me, LOL Mind u, when I start reading, I read fast, LOL
ReplyDeleteI know this Grace and that´s why it can be possible you even finish before me LOL. I wouldn´t be surprised!
ReplyDeleteI've been reading the book tonight. I see what u mean about not wanting to put it down, LOL I've read the first 5 or 6 chapters , but I had to put it down coz had to leave to pick up Serge. I'll continue reading tomorrow. I'm very curious about these "Furies" and why exactly lennie has these urges to kill Lucas. Some past life thing I'm sure...
ReplyDeleteYou bet it is exciting and it gets better the whole time, so be prepared. I wont say anything more in this phase, we´ll take when you read a little more. I´m at chapter 15 already :D
ReplyDeleteI'll read some more later. I love these kinds of intriguing stories too!
ReplyDeleteHere's my idea for our next book : CHARMING THE SHREW by Lauren Wittig (The MacLeods Book I)
ReplyDeleteand DARING THE HIGHLANDER by Lauren Wittig (The MacLeods Book II)
I've had these books for a while in my ibooks (which unlike Kindle and Nook, cannot share account). It's a series that has been having great reviews on the Goodreads bookclub just like Starcrossed. If they don't have them in ur library, then maybe we can choose something else, something i have on kindle or Nook?
I know how you feel, I love these kind of books too and to be honest they have to be intriguing since I´m not such an active reader otherwise.
ReplyDeleteI tied checking the new books you told me about but cannot even find them over here to be bought!!!!! how weird is that? well will try searching.
If u can't find them, we can choose something else. There's SO many books of the same genre.
ReplyDeletelovely, I know you are good with these !!!!
ReplyDeletelovely, I know you are good with these !!!!
ReplyDeleteI finished the book and in Wikipedia I can read that there are probably 2 more coming as sequals.

Also a film perhaps?!
The book ended with question marks for me so I really hope there will be a continuing story to this.
Ahh see, knew there would be sequels, LOL Just a bummer we have to wait a while... I'll check out what they say in Wiki.
ReplyDeleteSecond book coming out in May. Called "Dreamless". Will have to watch out for it.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.amazon.com/Dreamless-Josephine-Angelini/dp/0062012010/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1328223001&sr=8-1
ReplyDeleteHere it is....
OMG OMG so in May it´s coming out :D Can´t wait, hopefully we get it at that point over here too :)
ReplyDeleteIf it's available in kindle, i'll get it as kindle and then u can read it too without waiting.
ReplyDeletethen I will have to kiss your feet, cause it would make me soooooooooooooo happy <3
ReplyDeleteLOL, Now there's an image, u kissing my feet. Have u SEEN my feet?? LOL Just kidding. U know I love to share, and it's my pleasure. No feet kissing required, LOL
ReplyDeleteawwwwh you are just the sweetest Grace, love ya! <3
ReplyDeleteI just finished the book, and GOD, we have to wait until MAY for the next part! Seems so far away! I absolutely loved it. With each chapter it got better and better. So Helen is NOT Ajax's daughter, Daphne lied, but WHY? Obviously to keep Lucas and Helen apart (believing they are cousins)But why, damnit?! LOL
ReplyDeleteI knoooooooooooow! Now you understand why I want to kiss your feet if we get this book earlier. It´s like a tension in my life not knowing yet what happens and why this mother is bad. The thing is she really killed Ajax and maybe she knows Lucas will find out she is lying in time and for that reason wants to keep Helen and him apart.
ReplyDeleteU think Daphne killed Ajax? I'm not sure about that, but there definitely are many more secrets there. She's not being honest for sure, but about what and why I can't quite figure out yet.
ReplyDeletein some part in the end she was confessing of killing Ajax, that´s why Pandora came on to here, or have I been reading some other book LOL????
ReplyDeleteReally? I didn't get that impression, but maybe I'm the one who read wrong. I'll have to re-read it.
ReplyDeleteOk I've re-read the whole scene with Daphne and Pandora (and then Creon), and STILL I don't see a confession from Daphne. In fact, she re-iterates how she DOES want to kill Tantalus for taking the only thing worth anything to her, Ajax. And how , since even Helen isn't Ajax's, she has nothing in this world that's any value to her..
Am I missing something?
ReplyDeletehahhaah, I must have misunderstood then. Well I guess we will see what really has happened :D
ReplyDeleteMaybe she didn't kill Ajax, but there's definitely something mysterious about Daphne and many things she's still hiding. Can't wait to read the next book, ;)
ReplyDeleteI´m sure we will get some answers soon. I do believe that Lucas and Helen are made for each other. I just hope they soon realize this and that they are not cousins. We just have to be patient and wait :D
